Hi everyone, i had installed maxim software.
It got installed but it is not starting the application and placing a log in eventviewer

If you failed to fix it, another option is to call Microsoft and walk through the process with a technician. To do this, dial "1-800-936-5700". Explain the error that you received and the steps in the update process during which it was displayed. Applying a character style over a paragraph style, both italic, sets the text to NOT italic

Hi
If I add a bit of text to a para style based header and apply a different char style to just that new text (always at the end) the Reveal Formatting panel shows that the char style is Not Italic, even though both styles are actually italic.
The font is displayed
as not italic on screen.
If applied to my Normal style (which is not italic) then the char style works correctly. What on earth am I (is Word) doing wrong??

Eek! This doesn't sound a logical choice by Microsoft...
OK, what I've done is create a new style identical to the old style but with no italics and recreated my old style as based on the new style but with italics.
I set any overlaid styles to the new style and that allows the para italics through!
Job done.

Using Windows troubleshooter:

Click on Search on Charm bar and type Troubleshooting. Click on the very first option.
A new window will open. Click View all from the left pane.
Scroll down to the bottom and click on Windows update.
Troubleshooter window for Windows update will pop up. Click on NEXT. It may ask you for administrative permission.
The troubleshooter will automatically detect problems and fix it.
Now, close this window and try download/install the app which was previously showing error.

Windows Error Reporting - To Fix An error message while Backing up: The request was aborted. (0x800704D3). How can I create a backup?

Go to Start button.
Open Control Panel.
Go to Windows Error Reporting.
Click on System and Maintenance, then click Problem Reports and Solutions.
Next, click Change Settings located on the left side panel of the Problem Reports and Solutions window.
Select an option to configure how you want Windows to look for a solution to your problems. You may allow Windows to do it automatically or ask you every time to check if problem occurs.
Next, click the Advanced settings link.
Select Off to turn off Error Reporting.

Tech Support: Adobe flash player wont work after virus removal

Adobe flash player wont work after virus removal

My computer had the AVGantivivirus2011.
I removed it per instructions from bleepingcomputer.com Everything works fine and seems to be virus free except my flash player wont work.
I have uninstalled, reinstalled, rebooted, etc. When I try to access a
program requiring flash player it says I need the updated version.
I have went to the Adobe website and downloaded.
It says it is loaded successfully.
I reboot and then the program says the same thing.
I am not a computer whiz but (I think) Im a fairly intelligent
peson and can follow directions (if in plain English) LOL Any help/advice would be sooooo appreciated.

Adobe Premier Pro 1.5 uninstall problem in Windows 7 64 bit

Recently I upgraded from a Pentium 4 Windows XP 32 bit computer to an i7 Windows 7 64 bit computer.
I installed Adobe Premier Pro 1.5 and it crashes on start up.
I tried the compatibility features in Windows 7 but with no success.
Now I am trying to uninstall
Premier Pro 1.5 from the add/remove programs list but instead of uninstalling it wants to reinstall.
Any thoughts?

Type: MSCONFIG
Hit Enter

Under the General tab
select 'Diagnostic startup'
Apply then OK

Restart the system
When in Diagnostic mode, uninstall Adobe Premier again

Open the Run Command (Windows key + R)

Hit Enter

Under the General tab
select 'Normal startup'
Apply then OK

Restart your system

Manually editing the Windows registry to remove invalid MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION keys is not recommended unless you are PC service professional. Incorrectly editing your registry can stop your PC from functioning and create irreversible damage to your operating system. In fact, one misplaced comma can prevent your PC from booting entirely!

Caution: Unless you an advanced PC user, we DO NOT recommend editing the Windows registry manually. Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall Windows. We do not guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

To manually repair your Windows registry, first you need to create a backup by exporting a portion of the registry related to MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION (eg. Windows Operating System):

Click the Start button.
Type "command" in the search box... DO NOT hit ENTER yet!
While holding CTRL-Shift on your keyboard, hit ENTER.
You will be prompted with a permission dialog box.
Click Yes.
A black box will open with a blinking cursor.
Type "regedit" and hit ENTER.
In the Registry Editor, select the Error 0x9C-related key (eg. Windows Operating System) you want to back up.
From the File menu, choose Export.

You now have a backup of your MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION-related registry entry.
