Original title: It is a simple question. I do not want to delete all the suggested names when I enter an e-mail address.
Can I delate a name?
i do not want to enter the full name every time i send an e-mail but i do not want to be reminded of people i no longer know or want to know every time i send an e-mail.
I am a novice can I delete a name and can it be done simply?

I purchased Windows Vista Home Premium download from an internet source which gave a link to the Microsoft download server.
The file is a 3.02 GB iso image but I can only get 2.54 GB downloaded, even though the downoad dialog box shows download completed. I
followed the instructions in the Download FAQ question "What should I do if I cannot complete a download?", which says to delete all the history and temporary files.
It also says to set the temporary internet file size larger than the size of the file you
are downloading; however, IE won't allow a size larger than 1024.
My OS is Windows XP Home and I am using Internet Explorer 8.

If it is any help, the Microsoft file name is en_windows_vista_with_sp2_x86_dvd_342266.iso

You should be able to download a file of any size with the temporary internet file size of a much smaller amount.
Try to Save the download if you have been attempting to Open the download.
Also this could be caused by your antivirus.
You can
restart your computer in a clean boot that only has Microsoft software running by:

Start
·         Click
Run…
·         Type
msconfig into the Open: field
·         Press
Enter on your keyboard
·         Click
Selective startup
·         Uncheck
Load startup items
·         Click the
Services tab
·         Check the
Hide all Microsoft services box
·         Click
Disable all
·         Click
OK
·         Click
Restart Now
Once your computer has finished restarting, test to see if you still get the same error from downloading.
If not then you just have to identify which service/startup item was causing the problem.
(unless you don’t want to troubleshoot the problem
further, in which case just set your boot back to normal in the msconfig tool)

Start
·         Click
Run…
·         Type
msconfig into the Open: field

Enter on your keyboard
·         Click the

Once your computer has restarted, again test to see if the problem is still gone.
If so, then the services you enabled are good to stay.
Repeat the enabling process for half of the remaining disabled services and continue this process until the
problem returns or all services are enabled.
If the problem returns then you will need to test the last batch of services you enabled one by one to find which was causing the problem to occur.

If you enable all services and the problem still hasn’t returned:
·         Click
Start
·         Click
Run…
·         Type
msconfig into the Open: field
·         Press
Enter on your keyboard
·         Click the
Startup tab
·         Check (Enable) the top half of the service boxes
·         Click
OK
·         Click
Restart Now
Follow the same process as before, with testing after each restart.
If the problem hasn’t returned, go back and enable half of the remaining list of startup items and continue the process until the problem has returned.
Then you will need to
test the last batch of startup items you enabled one by one to find which causes the problem to occur.

Once you have identified which service/startup item causes the problem in Internet Explorer you will need to either disable/uninstall/update the program to avoid further problems.

In this method we will try to Boot in Safe mode with Networking and see if the error still persists.

Search "MSCONFIG" and Open.
Click on Boot Tab
Tick Safe Boot in Boot Option
Select Network.
Click Apply and OK.

Why exactly do you want to delete the files?
If you are referring to the windows update files then I would suggest you to leave the files as they are important updates released for the operating system to work at the optimum level.
If you want to clear out unwanted files, you could always run a disk clean up.

I'm having trouble getting this to work. I've tried repeatedly setting the format of cells to mm:ss but it doesn't seem to 'take'. I've been successful in applying different formats to data in the past so what might I be doing wrong in this case? I
just want to enter my 5K running times in minutes and seconds. I've been working round it using the hh:mm:ss format and putting my minutes figures in the hours part, seconds in the minutes part and 00 for the 'real' seconds part but I now want to manipulate
the data and of course it's getting screwed up... Thanks for reading.

=A1*1440/86400
which you can format as [m]:ss if you wish.
But I recommend ROUND(A1*1440,0)/86400 to minimize computer binary arithmetic anomalies. (My particular example works fine without rounding. You might not be so luck with other data.)
If you want to replace A1 with the converted value, you can copy B1, select A1, then right-click and click on Paste Special > Value. You will need to format A1 as [m]:ss. Then you can delete B1.

Windows 7 / 64 bit--on my granddaughters laptop.
What happens is any folder that you click on will open just fine, pictures documents etc no problem.
But when you attempt to open a program, internet explorer for example (even if you drill down to the exe
program in the folder) right click and use any of the following, Open, Run as adminsitrator and Start a window opens then opens another window "open with" and you get a listing of icons for various programs to use to open the program.
It appears that the system is trying to open the .exe file as a folder.
I did a system restore as far back as was availble no help same problem, Not sure if I am lloking at a corrupt system or there is a setting that I can't find that is causing this. anyone
havve any ideas? thanks in advance. Gale

Right click on it and select Run As Administrator
Type the following
CHKDSK /F /R
press Enter
You will be told the volume needs to be locked and would you like to scan on restart. Press Y and Press Enter
Restart your computer

The scan will begin on reboot and it will fix and repair/relocate system files.
When the computer restarts, open Event Viewer > Application Log and look for WINNINET
This log will tell you what transpired during the scan.

Retry opening application/program
If everything works you need go no further.

I just received a call from a "gentleman" claiming to be from tech support at Microsoft. He said that tech support had been recieving signals from my computer for the last two weeks that the hard drive was going to crash. He went on to say that he could
walk me through the steps to fix my computer. I told this guy that my computers were fine and that his computer was wrong. I have had no problems with my computers ever. The guy insisted that my computer would crash at any time and I needed to do what he
said to avoid the hard drive crashing. I told him that if I did have any problems with my computer I would take it to a technician right here in my hometown and get it fixed. When he still insisted I told him it sounded like a scam and I would not do anything.
He hung up as soon as I said that. On my caller ID it says no caller id no number.
