I always stay logged on to both Messenger and Hotmail.
I want to use only the "desktop" version of Messenger, and NOT have the pop-up appear in Hotmail duplicating the entire conversation. How do I permanently disable this pop-up?

If you mean the little window on the web messenger, on the page where you check your email, then on the left side where your friends list is, click sign off/out or whatever it says.
