Are there settings I can change either on my computer or in Windows Live so it runs faster?

I use a Eee Netbook with 2GB memory to access email over a Comcast  home wireless network.
Are there settings I can change either on my computer or in Windows Live so it runs faster? It loads messages, content and ads so slowly even after I upgraded the
memory.
Is it because of all the ads?
 It runs faster ona desktop machine with 2.8GB memory and another PC with 4GB memory but it doesn't seem like you should need 4GB to run an email program.
I don't message or use any of the other features.
Can turn off some settings so the messages will load
and open faster?
I run Windows 7 starter.
