Auto advance to next field in a fill in form, Word 2007 with legacy text field( number)

HAve  a form in Word 2007, used legacy text field to allow online editing or print for manual fill-in. Have define a particular series of fields as Number, length limited to 1 character.  Wish to force an auto advance to nect field when a character is entered,however
can not locate the control to accomplish this.  What have I missed?

You've not missed anything.  There is no change event associated with legacy formfields, so what you are after is not possible using formfields.
 
You could evoke a userform OnEntry to the first legacy form field in the series that you could use for filling out a series of numbers and use the change event of the userform text fields to advance to the next one.   Then use a command button to close the
userform and populate the document formfields.

  • In the File Name box, type a name for your backup file, such as "Windows Operating System Backup".
  • In the Export Range box, be sure that "Selected branch" is selected.
  • Click Save.
  • The file is then saved with a .reg file extension.
  • You now have a backup of your MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION-related registry entry.
