hi
i am having trouble installing software programs.  i got the following error when trying to install adobe acrobet reader " the endpoint mapper database entry could not be created".
installation fails.
 
i got the same error when i tried using a solution listed on one of the forums here - get into the security settings and try to either view the event log or change some settings there - then i get "c:\windows\system32\systempropertiesprotection.exe.

and am not able to access the security settings under my computer.  my guess is i have been unexpectedly wonked by a windows 7 update, as i also have the wandering cursor issue and have yet been unable
to locate the correct driver file to resolve this issue - which occurred after a windows 7 update.
i am currently solving this issue by plugging in an external mouse and keyboard.
 
 i recently completed a clean install of windows 7, but i am afraid i allowed one or two automatic updates afterward.  i think my best option might be to do a clean install again and get back to my original settings.  i did not have a backup disk created
yet as this install was literally just completed a few weeks ago.  right after i upgraded to windows 7 my lcd backlight died - so i have been spending time since upgrade fixing that issue.  now i think i might as well go back to square one with a clean install
again and not allowing any automatic updates.
 
is there a reliable location that lists which of these automatic upgrades are stable and relialbe and which should be avoided?
is there a solution for the endpoint mapper issue?
